My friends that are not from Iowa often compare Cedar Falls to the fictional town of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. It’s idyllic; a small university, a safe and walkable downtown, the endless opportunities to sit in a lawn chair and enjoy live music.
Unfortunately, I know many citizens would disagree. We face systemic challenges like any other city. Strong communities are not marked by an absence of these issues, they are instead marked by the strength and courage of those who confront them, and then help to ensure that all citizens have the opportunity to participate in the many systems that are essential to a rich quality of life for all.
It is my hope, as a member of your City Council, I will start to make Cedar Falls a place where all citizens feel not just heard when they have an issue; but feel pride, joy, and enthusiasm for their home.

Empowering Community Members
Cedar Falls, while often forward thinking and on the cutting edge of new opportunities, has also faced challenges that have created and widened social inequities throughout history. It is now our responsibility to empower our community to be apart of the changes which will result in a rich quality of life for all.
Key Areas
Continue to prioritize our neighborhoods and schools. If our community is going to continue to grow, we must consider the future to ensure that we have invested in all generations.
Focus on quality of life projects, including arts and culture, which will not only make our community’s lives more fun, but they create spaces for all citizens to enjoy. Not to mention, they can also increase economic growth for Cedar Falls.
Create resources for community members to answer questions, bring forward ideas, and make Cedar Falls more accessible to all.
Collaborating for Change
Over the last few years Cedar Falls has addressed many divisive issues; public safety, roundabouts, parking, etc. It is my hope that through collaboration we find ourselves united more often than divided.
Key Areas
Maintain the character of Cedar Falls while adopting policies that address our need for more available housing, childcare, and the growth of business districts; including the revitalization of College Hill and University Avenue/College Square.
Build a new and lasting relationship with the University of Northern Iowa. The University is at the foundation of our community and their success is our success.
Connect with neighborhood associations, school groups, foundations, and other existing organizations that are powerful resources of knowledge and passionate about Cedar Falls.
No Nonsense
The role of City Council, particularly the At-Large seat, is to represent all citizens of Cedar Falls. Hannah is committed to never prioritizing personal gain or exclusive ideology over what is best for our community. If something needs to be said, Hannah will often be the first to say it.
Key Areas
More open lines of communication to our citizens; public forums, social media, being present at community events and activities.
Provide thoughtful comments and ask respectful questions — Communication is the key to our greatest success.
Be open to new ideas, opinions not considered, and perspectives that are different, with the knowledge that there is a solution to every problem.
